Dearest Mom, Dad, & All,
I was in Tacoma at 10:45, last night. Ben (his brother) and Helen hadn't even gotten out of sight before I caught a ride to Seattle. I stepped out of one and go into another to Tacoma. I had a heck of a time catching the bus from there out to the Fort. I didn't get out here until 12:30.
Today we had to climb the rope ladders and those big nets made out of rope. This morning we practiced in the gym, this afternoon we went out on the water. This morning in the gym one of the bass players slipped and fell. He broke his leg and won't be able to go to California. He was also the Drum Major. Ray and I went to see him tonight and he sure is in pain. He was a big fellow. I was standing by him when he fell. He didn't fall very far, but his foot got caught in the net and broke his leg.
Ray got back yesterday from furlough. He says to tell you all hello.
It is almost time for the lights to go out so I will Have to close.
Love,
Rex
PS We have to move again tomorrow.
